Welcome
"We believe that the South has broken the promise of unity with the North."
- Ciroma Kabiru
The Party of Northern Renewal is the political expression of a movement that has been building for over a decade in the north of Nigeria. We trace our origins to a network of Qadiriyya scholars, displaced merchants, university graduates and ordinary intellectuals who began organising in the early 2050s, united by a common recognition: that the Fifth Republic has failed the north.
This movement was given its decisive political impetus by the 2046 blasphemy case, when the Federal Supreme Court struck down a Sharia conviction in Sokoto. To the scholars and community leaders who had trusted in Khalil's wartime promise of religious autonomy, it was a demonstration that the promise meant nothing.
The PNR draws its legitimating tradition from the tajdid of Usman dan Fodio, framing itself not as a secessionist movement but as a covenantal one. Our core argument is that the Fifth Republic entered into binding agreements with the north at its founding, that these agreements have been systematically violated, and that the north is therefore justified in demanding either genuine constitutional autonomy or a renegotiation of the terms of federation. We bring this argument to the Federal Assembly. We contest elections because we believe in exhausting every political avenue before any other consideration.
Membership is open to all Muslims who are Hausa-Fulani and to all Hausa-Fulani who are Muslims. We are a broad movement. If you feel marginalised by the moving masses of the south, you can support us by joining, participating in the forum, or becoming a PNR Patron.

The party's policy wing released its first formal brief on fiscal federalism, arguing that the northern Administrative Zones contribute disproportionately to cobalt and agricultural revenues while receiving a diminishing share of federal transfers. The brief proposes a revised revenue-sharing formula and a constitutional guarantee of AZ-level fiscal autonomy. It has been circulated to all northern AZ offices and submitted to INEC as a formal policy document.
Our Platform
Restoration of religious autonomy. Sharia courts in northern AZs must be granted constitutional protection from federal appellate override.
Genuine fiscal federalism. Northern AZs must receive a fair share of cobalt and agricultural revenues.
Constitutional renegotiation. A national constitutional conference with genuine northern representation must be convened.
Defence of northern cultural identity. The Civilizing Task Force must be disbanded. Northern languages and traditions must receive formal state recognition.
Reconstruction of northern education. Investment in northern universities is a matter of urgent national equity.
Peace and reintegration. The PNR supports the ongoing deescalation and calls for a formal amnesty process for demilitarised combatants who renounce violence.
